LEMON GRASS villa on Tortola in the British Virgin Islands is wonderfully charming and comfortable. The villa's main level overlooks the blue bay and directly to the beach at Cane Garden Bay Tortola; dotted with sail boats and Tortola's lush hills, Jost Van Dyke and St. Thomas at night. The main level consists of the living room, newly refurbished kitchen and dining area, and the air-conditioned king master suite, all open to the covered verandas bordering this level, the favorite gathering place for sunset cocktails and relaxed dinners. There is also a comfy sitting area at the north end which is great for morning coffee or an afternoon power nap. At the second level are two equal air-conditioned king bedroom/bath suites. The bedrooms open out through french doors to the lower veranda, pool and sun deck set with chaise loungers, a very comfy sitting area with dining/gaming table and outdoor shower. Tropical Caribbean palms and potted plants abound throughout the property. Nice owners touches throughout, accented by Caribbean island furnishings in wicker, seagrass and teak, and native Caribbean stonework outside all add to Lemon Grass's warm Caribbean flavor.
3 cable TVs (in living room + in each poolside bedroom), DVD player in living room, CD player/MP3 player, books, games, A/C in all bedrooms, DSL line for your laptop, hair dryers, safe for valuables, gas grill, Bose IPod dock and coolers.

**Cane Garden Bay's nightspots are just down the coast from Lemon Grass; on some nights there will be the sound of music drifting across the Bay. Because of this, we cannot guarantee absolute quiet at Lemon Grass.**
There is a new dingy dock within a 5 minute walk of Lemon Grass. Some guests have found this a perfect solution for stay and sail vacations.

After spending a fantastic week aboard a CatCo 44' Lagoon, we wanted to spend a weekend at a nice place with a pool and we got just that. 6 of the 8 people on the charter stayed at Lemon Grass villa in Cane Garden Bay December 18 to 21. It was a real treat. It's a very private location with Three Bedrooms/Three bathrooms, One bedroom on the upper level and two on the level with the pool, all air conditioned with ceiling fans, all had TV (but we didn't really turn them on), and a great living room and kitchen area which was very open with a great view of Cane Garden Bay and the Ocean over to St Thomas. There is a grill if you want to use that as well.
The pool was slightly cooler than I thought it might be (great for hot days). It was refreshing and easy to get used to, but night swimming isn't really going to happen because it needed maybe 5 more degrees for that. Great pool though with lounge chairs all around.
Lemon Grass villa IS NOT way up the hill (if you know Tortola, there are crazy up/down hill roads that are fairly insane to walk up), so it's an easy walk into Cane Garden Bay. We walked it 4 or 5 times a day to either get something at the Bakery, or Bobby's Market, or to hit a bar or place to eat.
Cane Garden Bay is beautiful, and is especially nice when the cruise ship isn't in road town providing lots of traffic to the CGB beach.
One thing you CAN NOT MISS is Bananakeet Cafe up the road from CGB. They serve fantastic sushi and it's way up on a point where the view (especially sunset) is unbelievable beautiful. We took a taxi (Sam is your man 284-541-1281) up there. The taxi driver came a little early to drive us back and we invited him to eat with us. Great guy with fun stories.
All in all, it would be as good of a base of operations as any i believe, and the villa is awesome.

We stayed at Lemon Grass with boys 15 & 19, so the short walk down a covered lane to Cane Garden Bay town/beach (where there were enough people to interest our boys) was a real plus. (Less than a kilometer to Myett's, shorter via the beach) 2 markets, beach restaurants, activities, clear water and no steep hills! House was perfect, lg enclosed BRs, open LR, Kit, DR, veranda, good lighting. We didn't use the deep, small pool - preferred the beach, but it would be a big plus in the summer. The kitchen came with plenty of spices, drink mixes, etc. of past guests, a real plus if you want to cook (we did once, + breakfasts daily) and is well equipped. Others had left sun screen, snorkel equipment, etc., felt like a friend's home and that was really nice. We were very happy there, wish we could have stayed longer.
Lemon Grass Villa:
My wife, 2 friends and I stayed at Lemon Grass from May 16, 2008 thru May 26, 2008 during the BVI Music Fest. I can not say enough great things about this villa and PurplePineapple.com (especially Cheryl) who we booked through! It is located in Cane Garden Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Cane Garden is also a main anchorage for sailboats and other yachters so the beach is full of great and popular restaurants and bars. Lemon Grass Villa is located on the far north of the beach high enough up the mountain to be away from the hustle and bustle of the beach activity and high enough to get a nice view of the bay. However, it is not so high up the hill that you cant get down to Cane Garden Bay on foot in only 10 minutes or less! During the Music Fest, we did get a lot of loud music coming across the bay late into the night but that was to be expected. Otherwise, the normal day and night activity at Cane Garden could barely be heard.
The villa itself is extraordinary. Again, great location. There are other villas nearby but I never felt like I didnt have enough privacy. Beautiful flowers, foliage, landscaping and stonework around outside. The whole villa was clean and well-kept. Well appointed, stocked and maintained kitchen and bar. Comfortable, cozy and nicely decorated living and bedroom areas. The pool is just the right size and was a favorite place to unwind at the end of the day. The deck gets great sun for sunbathing, there is an a table and chairs for playing cards near the pool, plenty of chaise loungers and chairs in the pool area and a gas BBQ grill. The bedrooms all have A/C, or you could just use the ceiling fans and open the huge doors to the BRs to cool off with the ocean breeze.
Now for Cheryl and Purple Pineapple. They bent over backwards to help with any problem and meet any request we had the entire week. Even things we thought were minor, Cheryl approached it like it was a major disaster and it was taken care of immediately! By the end of the trip, she had gone from simply our booking agent and customer service contact to a good friend who we hope to keep in touch with for years to come.
